About the Role
The Threat Analyst will lead efforts to identify, track, and interpret online extremist activity and disinformation campaigns, delivering timely intelligence to inform research, policy, and field interventions.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess extremist narratives across digital platforms
- Produce detailed analytical reports on threat actors and movements
- Identify emerging trends in disinformation and online radicalization
- Support development of intervention strategies based on intelligence findings
- Collaborate with researchers and policy experts to inform program design
- Conduct open-source investigations using digital tools and methodologies
- Analyze data from social media, forums, and alternative platforms
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of extremist ideologies and tactics
- Contribute to real-time crisis response when needed
- Present findings to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Ensure analytical rigor and methodological transparency
- Work with legal and ethical guidelines for online data collection
- Support training initiatives for partners and practitioners
- Engage with technical teams to improve data processing workflows
- Assist in designing research frameworks for threat assessment
- Track the evolution of online networks and communities
- Evaluate the impact of counter-narrative campaigns
- Translate technical findings for non-specialist audiences
- Maintain secure handling of sensitive information
- Participate in peer review of analytical outputs
- Support cross-border collaborations with research partners
- Contribute to public and private briefings on threat landscapes
- Use structured analytical techniques to reduce cognitive bias
- Document sources and chain of evidence for reporting
- Stay current with legislative and regulatory developments

- Advanced degree in political science, international relations, or related field
- Direct experience analyzing disinformation campaigns
- Knowledge of machine learning or data science applications in research
- Experience working with law enforcement or civil society partners
- Publication record in relevant subject areas
- Familiarity with secure digital communication tools

- Training in structured analytic methods
