About the Role

This role involves providing legal representation to unaccompanied immigrant children in removal proceedings, ensuring access to counsel, and supporting systemic advocacy efforts.

Responsibilities

Represent unaccompanied children in immigration court proceedings
Conduct client interviews and gather case-related evidence
Prepare and file legal motions and applications
Advocate for clients' rights within the immigration system
Collaborate with social workers and case managers
Maintain accurate and confidential case records
Ensure compliance with legal and organizational standards
Participate in team meetings and strategy sessions
Respond to court deadlines and scheduling orders
Communicate regularly with clients and guardians
Identify and address client trauma and vulnerabilities
Coordinate with pro bono partners and external counsel
Support policy and advocacy initiatives
Attend trainings on immigration law and child protection
Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and resources
Monitor changes in immigration regulations and policies
Assist in developing legal strategies for complex cases
Engage in outreach to community organizations
Promote awareness of children's legal rights
Support efforts to improve legal access for minors
Work within ethical and professional legal standards
Uphold confidentiality in all client interactions
Manage a high-volume caseload efficiently
Meet performance and reporting expectations
Adapt to evolving program needs and priorities
