Telecom Integration & Physical Architecture Engineer
This role focuses on the design, coordination, and validation of integrated telecom and physical systems within railway transportation. Based in Piossasco (TO), Italy, you will lead the development of system architecture across on-board, wayside, and central components, ensuring alignment with contractual, technical, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure telecom and physical architecture designs meet contractual and performance requirements.
- Lead design reviews for telecom and on-board subsystems, focusing on interface compatibility and system-wide functionality.
- Define and resolve functional interfaces between core subsystems, supporting seamless integration.
- Develop architectural documentation including system diagrams, data flows, time synchronization schemes, and test track layouts.
- Support tender and bidding activities by providing system configuration and integration expertise.
- Contribute to test planning for system integration, commissioning, and site validation, including FAT, SAT, and SIT events.
- Collaborate with project teams to respond to client inquiries, design reviews, and requirement clarifications.
- Verify compliance of all transport system components with applicable regulations and performance benchmarks.
- Manage interface reviews through formal processes and coordinate client feedback on deliverables.
- Support troubleshooting and performance analysis during operational phases, including reverse engineering when needed.
Qualifications and Skills
A master’s degree in electronic, telecommunications, computer science, or electrical engineering is required. You must demonstrate strong analytical abilities, a systems-thinking mindset, and experience managing complex technical interfaces in integrated environments.
Proficiency in English is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally is expected for site activities and project support.
Prior experience in railway systems, rolling stock automation, or transportation infrastructure design is advantageous.
