Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory protocols for specimen handling, testing, result reporting, and recordkeeping.
- Perform analytical tests across various laboratory disciplines as directed, including result calculations when required.
- Enter test results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Release test results when authorized and trained to do so.
- Operate, calibrate, perform checks on, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment as needed.
- Identify and resolve basic instrument issues, escalating to supervisors when necessary.
- Ensure sufficient stock levels of supplies, reagents, and materials.
- Assess media, reagents, and calibrators against defined quality criteria.
- Prepare reagents and media following established procedures.
- Carry out quality control protocols on tests, equipment, reagents, media, and products; evaluate outcomes and apply corrective measures when needed.
- Review and comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Approve or reject test results based on SOP guidelines.
- Train, guide, and support new or cross-training staff in laboratory methods and techniques.
- Comply with all Quality Assurance, HIPAA, and safety regulations.
- Meet all required testing turnaround timeframes.
- Fulfill expectations of the quality management system, including proper documentation, adherence to procedures, training compliance, and accurate recordkeeping.
- Record all corrections or corrective actions taken when test systems fail to meet performance standards.
- Support organizational values, leadership principles, and ethical standards.
- Represent the laboratory and organization positively and in alignment with company standards and professional conduct.
- Maintain high standards of integrity and confidentiality in testing, documentation, and handling of patient, client, employee, and business information.
- Perform additional duties as formally assigned by management.
- Contribute to special project teams when requested by laboratory leadership.
