Responsibilities
- Follow established protocols for sample handling, testing, analysis, result reporting, and documentation of patient data.
- Perform laboratory tests across various specialties as directed, using approved methods and calculating test outcomes when required.
- Enter test results into systems accurately and in a timely manner.
- Release test findings when authorized and trained to do so.
- Operate, calibrate, run performance checks on, and maintain laboratory instruments as needed.
- Identify and resolve common instrument issues, escalating to supervisors when necessary.
- Ensure sufficient stock levels of reagents, supplies, and materials are available for testing operations.
- Assess media, reagents, and calibrators against defined quality criteria before use.
- Prepare media or reagents following specified procedures.
- Carry out quality control protocols on tests, equipment, reagents, media, and products, and take corrective steps when results fall outside acceptable ranges.
- Review and comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all laboratory activities.
- Approve or disqualify test results based on adherence to SOPs.
- Train, guide, or support new staff and those undergoing cross-training in laboratory methods and techniques.
- Comply with all applicable Quality Assurance, HIPAA, and safety regulations.
- Meet required turnaround times for test completion and reporting.
- Fulfill core requirements of the quality management system, including proper documentation, training compliance, and work quality standards.
- Record all deviations from expected test system performance and the corrective actions taken.
- Support the organization’s business principles, leadership values, and ethical standards.
- Represent the laboratory and organization positively and in line with company expectations at all times.
- Maintain high standards of integrity and confidentiality in testing, documentation, and handling of patient, client, employee, and business information.
- Perform additional tasks as formally assigned by laboratory management.
- Join special project teams as requested by laboratory leadership.
