Bowhead is seeking a Technical Writer to support its customer in Crane, IN. This role involves performing complex and unique engineering support assignments for military and commercial systems, including the modification of military platforms and undersea sensor equipment.
What You'll Do
- Follow specific layouts, procedures, drawings, or scientific diagrams to assist in updating technical manuals and engineering change proposals (ECPs).
- Extract and compile a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, and lab reports, identifying errors or inconsistencies.
- Assist in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials for undersea sensor equipment or component parts.
- Develop information concerning previous operational failures and modifications.
- Conduct Hazard Analysis.
- Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain records.
- Participate in Validation and Verification Events.
- Document system analysis, prototyping, system design, preproduction, and fabrication.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 0 to 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
- Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level.
- US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience supporting NSWC Crane.
- Active Secret clearance.
