About the Role
Lead the development and architecture of data platforms, mentor engineers, and drive technical decisions that improve reliability, scalability, and performance of data infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Guide the design and implementation of data pipelines and storage solutions
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand data needs
- Ensure data systems are secure, efficient, and maintainable
- Lead code reviews and promote engineering best practices
- Mentor data engineers and support team growth
- Evaluate and integrate new data technologies
- Monitor system performance and optimize for scale
- Troubleshoot complex data issues across distributed systems
- Define data modeling standards and schema governance
- Work closely with analytics and data science teams
- Drive automation of data workflows and operational tasks
- Support data compliance and privacy initiatives
- Contribute to capacity planning for data infrastructure
- Participate in architectural decision-making
- Promote observability and monitoring across data platforms
- Manage incident response for data system outages
- Ensure documentation is accurate and up to date
- Balance technical debt with feature development
- Foster collaboration between engineering and business stakeholders
- Lead proof-of-concept projects for new data tools
