Reach is looking for a Tax Accountant to be a hands-on contributor essential for ensuring our tax team meets its international compliance obligations. You'll manage the timely and accurate preparation of indirect tax filings and support a global team driving innovation in cross-border payments.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and file indirect tax returns (VAT, GST, sales tax) across multiple jurisdictions, or coordinate with external tax advisors.
- Review tax data for anomalies and discrepancies; escalate and resolve issues with Data, Engineering, and Operations teams.
- Research tax legislation changes, evaluate implications for the business, and provide recommendations on compliance requirements.
- Participate in strategic tax projects and initiatives.
- Contribute to process improvements, including exploring ways to streamline tasks using automation tools.
- Support internal teams with tax-related inquiries.
What We're Looking For
- A university degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail, well-organized, and proven ability to meet deadlines.
Nice to Have
- 2+ years of professional experience in accounting or tax accounting.
- Experience supporting or conducting tax audits (Big 4 or mid-tier firm background is an asset).
- Professional tax or accounting qualification, or qualification in progress.
- Broad experience with US sales tax and understanding of VAT/GST.
- Experience working with third-party tax preparers and advisers.
- Familiarity with automation tools or AI-assisted workflows for process improvement.
- Knowledge of Jira/Confluence/Google Workspace, and an advanced Excel user.
- An agile, curious mindset, with an enjoyment for the speed of a fast-paced startup environment.
