AECOM is hiring a Systems Engineering Manager - Rail & Transit

Responsibilities

  • Guide and oversee Systems Engineering efforts throughout all stages of project development, from initial concept through testing and commissioning
  • Deliver technical leadership and strategic direction to cross-functional engineering teams
  • Communicate progress, risks, and technical status to senior project leaders and decision-makers
  • Interpret and implement complex engineering scopes spanning multiple disciplines
  • Ensure consistent technical alignment with internal teams and external partners, including clients, vendors, and certification bodies
  • Operate with autonomy under high-level objectives, applying sound engineering judgment
  • Supervise, coach, and support the growth of engineering and technical personnel
  • Create, evaluate, and authorize key Systems Engineering documentation such as SEMPs, Requirements Management Plans, and Verification & Validation Plans
  • Direct and manage Requirements Management activities across the project lifecycle
  • Oversee Interface and Integration Management to ensure system compatibility
  • Lead Configuration Management processes to maintain design integrity
  • Champion technical governance and assurance frameworks
  • Manage end-to-end requirements workflows, from initial customer input to final validation and acceptance
  • Drive the creation of functional system requirements
  • Lead the definition of system architectures
  • Develop detailed interface specifications between system components
  • Implement and maintain full traceability of requirements using tools like DOORS or JAMA
  • Coordinate integration tasks across engineering disciplines and external suppliers
  • Lead interactions with Independent Safety Assessors, Technical Authorities, and regulatory auditors
  • Support engineering decisions with documented evidence and contribute to progressive assurance processes
