Calspan is hiring a Systems Administrator

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Linux-based high-performance computing clusters, ensuring optimal node performance, job throughput, and system monitoring for engineering simulations.
  • Provide technical support for simulation software including Ansys Fluent and Star-CCM+, resolving infrastructure-related issues affecting parallel processing and solver performance.
  • Oversee floating license servers such as FlexNet to maintain compliance and ensure uninterrupted access to engineering tools.
  • Manage job scheduling systems like Slurm, PBS, or LSF to efficiently allocate and prioritize computational workloads.
  • Handle advanced administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, including automated deployments, kernel optimization, and security enhancements.
  • Operate and maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or HyperV, including VM provisioning and resource optimization.
  • Manage user authentication and access across Windows and Linux environments using Active Directory, Entra ID, LDAP, and SSSD.
  • Administer HPE Nimble storage systems throughout their lifecycle, ensuring reliability and performance.
  • Tune storage protocols including NFS and iSCSI to support high-throughput demands of simulation workloads.
  • Use HPE InfoSight for monitoring storage trends and projecting future capacity requirements.
  • Implement and maintain backup solutions and disaster recovery plans for critical engineering data.
  • Automate system provisioning and maintenance tasks using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Enforce consistent system configurations across servers and HPC nodes using configuration management tools like Ansible.
