Mission Bit, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing project-based computer science education to youth of color, is seeking a Web Design Teaching Assistant for a seasonal, semester-based role. The TA will support students in an Intro to Web Design class, help foster an inclusive classroom environment, and contribute to student development from June to August 2026.
What You'll Do
- Promote a welcoming and supportive class community
- Foster productive collaboration among students
- Track student progress throughout the course
- Help students realize their potential
- Create an inclusive and community-based classroom culture aligned with Mission Bit core values: social justice, community, accountability, smart risks, and love
- Plan and lead community-building games and activities
- Foster individual and meaningful relationships with students
- Promote positive, productive collaboration between students
- Ensure students receive the support needed to confidently complete and showcase a capstone project at Demo Day
- Effectively manage classroom behavior to foster a productive learning environment for all students
- Lead class in the event the lead instructor is absent
- Attend weekly staff meetings (Weekly Instructor Circles)
- Communicate and collaborate with Lead Instructor and other instructional staff
- Communicate course progress to students and their families
- Communicate student progress and success to Program Staff to support student learning

- Availability for live in-person training in San Francisco, CA from June 16 - 18, 2026, 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Availability for a 1-hour classroom site visit on June 18, 2026 (in-person instructors only)
- Availability to teach Tuesdays through Thursdays from June 23 to July 30, 2026, 9:45 AM - 2:45 PM
- Availability for Demo Day on July 31, 2026 (tentative)
- Availability for Weekly Instructor Circles on Mondays from 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM via Google Meet
- Availability for weekly 30-minute co-instructor planning meetings
- Availability for end-of-semester wrap-up from August 3 - 6, 2026
