About the Role
The Student Success Coach works directly with students to identify challenges, set goals, and create actionable plans to support persistence and achievement throughout their academic journey.
Responsibilities
- Guide students in setting and tracking academic and personal objectives
- Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions to assess progress
- Identify barriers to student success and collaborate on solutions
- Connect students with campus resources and support services
- Monitor academic performance and intervene when needed
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and outcomes
- Facilitate workshops on time management, study skills, and goal setting
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student needs
- Promote a culture of accountability and self-advocacy
- Assist students in understanding academic policies and requirements
- Support at-risk students through proactive outreach
- Encourage student engagement in campus activities and programs
- Use data to assess coaching effectiveness and adjust strategies
- Uphold student confidentiality in all communications
- Contribute to program evaluation and improvement initiatives
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in counseling, education, or social work
- Experience in higher education student services
- Training in motivational interviewing or coaching techniques
- Bilingual communication skills
- Knowledge of retention theory or student development models
