iwoca is hiring a Strategy Lead - Acquisition (Germany)

About the Role

This position integrates commercial strategy, data, and technology, reporting to the Head of Direct Acquisition to lead a team of three and drive acquisition outcomes by defining growth strategies, partnering with engineering and data teams, and owning the roadmap for engaging German businesses with accountability for measurable impact on acquisition and conversion.

Responsibilities

  • Gain deep insight into the German SME lending market, customer requirements, and competitive environment to refine go-to-market approaches.
  • Convert market and customer insights into well-defined product challenges and prioritized business opportunities.
  • Guide targeting and segmentation approaches to assist Marketing and Sales in reaching appropriate customers.
  • Manage the acquisition and onboarding roadmap, collaborating with engineers and data scientists to create tools like lead scoring systems, eligibility checkers, and onboarding processes.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales to improve website content, sign-up procedures, and decision logic to boost conversion rates.
  • Contribute to future team development by helping set priorities, roles, and procedures as the organization expands.
  • Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests across messaging, targeting, onboarding tools, and product flows.
  • Identify opportunities using fundamental reasoning supported by data, customer research, and funnel analysis.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team initially consisting of two commercial strategy analysts and a data scientist focused on acquisition strategy and operational excellence.
  • Lead cross-functional projects, aligning engineering, data, marketing, and commercial stakeholders around specific objectives, hypotheses, and performance indicators.
  • Translate broad business goals into testable hypotheses and practical briefs for technical teams.
  • Assist in establishing the operational tempo, routines, and roadmap procedures for this new team.

Requirements

  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience in developing go-to-market strategies and driving measurable acquisition growth.
  • Background in growth strategy, revenue operations, or a highly analytical commercial role with a history of advancing tech-enabled or product-led growth.
  • Proven experience in people management or team leadership, capable of fostering culture and setting operational rhythms in a new team.
  • Fluency in German and excellent written communication skills suited for customer-facing contexts.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with experimentation frameworks and A/B testing tools.
  • Experience with or strong interest in learning about technical models such as lead scoring, predictive targeting, or qualification logic.
  • Ability to operate from first principles and excel in ambiguous situations with curiosity and independence.

  • Experience in fintech, lending, B2B SaaS, or regulated products.
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineering, product, or data science teams to deliver features or models.

The Acquisition Strategy and Tech team serves as the integrated growth engine for the German market, bridging commercial strategy and technical systems to manage the end-to-end acquisition funnel from initial touchpoints to loan applications, focusing on strategic growth analytics, technical infrastructure, and operational excellence to ensure scalable and profitable outreach with robust technology.
