Responsibilities
- Develop test plans and strategies to minimize production defects, lead high-level test strategies for complex projects, align plans with business objectives, ensure comprehensive coverage, and drive automation-first approaches integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
- Design and execute high-complexity cross-functional test cases covering various testing types, and manage comprehensive testing strategies for large-scale projects aligned with development and business goals.
- Lead manual and automated testing efforts in medium-sized functional areas to improve automation coverage, own automation strategy, and ensure scalable and maintainable automation components.
- Identify complex defects, provide detailed bug reports, enforce defect tracking and timely resolution, implement defect management best practices, lead quality initiatives to minimize future defects, and establish best practices for test documentation across functional areas.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to clarify complex requirements, ensure quality standards, and verify software meets product requirements.
- Implement and drive continuous improvement practices, lead small process improvement initiatives for medium-sized features, champion test automation and CI/CD best practices, and use quantitative metrics to demonstrate quality and efficiency improvements.
- Establish expertise in emerging testing technologies and methodologies, evaluate and integrate industry-leading tools, and influence the strategic direction of the testing function.
- Mentor less experienced engineers, lead knowledge-sharing sessions, troubleshoot complex issues, and guide product knowledge development for junior team members.
- Proactively identify and address obstacles across multiple projects or teams, own complex issues, and guide the team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software at task and project levels.
- Develop and review comprehensive test strategies aligned with business and technical goals, and take responsibility for the overall direction of test strategies across projects.
- Review and approve test cases for multiple teams, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy, and provide feedback to drive improvements in test case design and coverage.
- Continuously track, analyze, and interpret testing metrics to assess effectiveness and quality, and make data-driven recommendations to enhance testing processes, coverage, and defect management.
- Drive and define the strategic direction for test engineering across projects, and develop policies, standards, and best practices to ensure testing quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with the SET team to define and implement automation priorities for large, complex projects or multiple teams, ensuring maximum testing efficiency and improved automation coverage.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of industry experience with hands-on leadership of testing teams on medium-sized projects.
- 3+ years of experience writing complex automation tests.
- Ability to lead management of multiple large testing projects across different teams or business units, ensuring coordination and timely delivery with quality standards.
- Ability to lead task-specific collaboration, convey precise technical details, respond to immediate issues, and ensure clarity in resolving task and project-level challenges.
- Ability to define and drive best practices for scalable and efficient testing methodologies across the team.
- Exceptional ability to detect and resolve subtle, complex defects that could significantly impact user experience, application performance, or business objectives.
- Expertise in solving highly complex issues and system-level problems, leading troubleshooting across multiple teams, and defining strategies for long-term root cause solutions.
- Ability to analyze complex product requirements independently, define testing approaches, and partner with stakeholders to ensure full coverage and address ambiguities.
- Expert in managing defects and ensuring efficient resolution, with skills in identifying trends and driving improvements.
- Ability to write and maintain complex automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, TestNG, or similar.
- Advanced skills in API testing and validating complex API functionalities using tools like Postman, SoapUI, and custom scripts.
- Proficient in leading adaptation to changing requirements, code designs, implementation changes, new technologies, methods, priorities, workstyles, and responsibilities.
- Leads domain-specific strategy development, ensures testing aligns with industry standards, customer needs, and business objectives, and acts as a subject matter expert for testing in specific domains.
