The Staff Software Engineer will guide the technical vision for critical platform components such as agent identity, authentication, authorization, and secrets management. This role blends hands-on development with architectural leadership, driving long-term strategy, mentoring engineers, and contributing to a secure, scalable Identity Security Platform enhanced by AI.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the technical strategy for core platform areas, ensuring architectures across services and teams emphasize scalability, reliability, and security.
- Demonstrate technical excellence through high-impact coding, mentorship, and guidance on complex system tradeoffs.
- Identify critical technical challenges or system gaps and lead end-to-end solution development from concept to delivery.
- Champion engineering best practices to maintain strong code quality, security standards, and operational reliability.
- Clearly communicate technical concepts to engineers, architects, product teams, and stakeholders to influence decisions and align cross-functional efforts.
- Document key architectural decisions, design patterns, and practices to strengthen team knowledge and platform consistency.
- Promote continuous improvement and operational efficiency to enhance productivity while maintaining a secure and robust platform.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in backend and systems engineering with proven ownership of large-scale or security-sensitive systems from inception to production.
- Experience designing and managing secure, scalable, and reliable distributed systems in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Ability to operate effectively in uncertain conditions, make significant technical decisions, and guide teams through complex engineering tradeoffs.
- Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence technical direction, align teams, and mentor across functions.
- Self-motivated and proactive with a focus on delivering secure, high-quality, and scalable systems that have measurable impact.
