Coinbase is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Backend to serve as a Tech Lead Manager for the Country Expansion team. Your mission is to accelerate the company's international growth across the Americas (excluding the US). You will initially act as a tech lead and direct contributor to code for the first six months before transitioning to manage direct reports.

What You'll Do

Spend at least 25% of your time as a strong individual contributor, driving engineering quality and velocity.
Build high-performance services using Golang and gRPC to create seamless integrations.
Be a thoughtful technical voice, aiding in architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality code.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to define strategic product roadmaps and impact international expansion.
Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with technical expertise.
Mentor and coach team members on system design techniques and coding standards.
Write high quality, well tested code to meet customer needs.

What We're Looking For

8+ years of experience in software engineering.
Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
Passionate about building an open financial system.

Nice to Have

Experience with rapid company growth (from 10 to 100s of engineers).
Experience with Blockchain technology (such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Base).
Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices.
Experience with Golang, Protobuf, Docker, MongoDB, Postgres, AWS.
Experience building financial, high reliability or security systems.
Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps.

Team & Environment

You will be the Tech Lead Manager for the Country Expansion team spanning multiple countries across the Americas (except US). You will partner with Country Directors, Product Managers, and Customer Support.

Benefits & Compensation

Compensation: $217,900 CAD base salary.
Full time offers include bonus eligibility + benefits (including medical, dental, and vision).
