Kraken seeks a Staff Mobile Engineer to lead complex, cross-cutting technical initiatives that shape mobile onboarding experiences for Payward’s products. You will drive architectural direction, mentor engineers, and ensure the systems we build are scalable, reliable, and capable of supporting rapid iteration.
What You'll Do
- Lead the technical direction for mobile onboarding initiatives across Payward products.
- Design and evolve high-quality mobile applications using React Native, ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability at scale.
- Partner with Product, Design, and Data teams to identify onboarding opportunities and translate them into measurable engineering solutions.
- Architect reusable mobile components, patterns, and systems that support experimentation and rapid iteration.
- Mentor engineers and guide architectural decisions across mobile and product engineering teams.
- Ensure strong engineering standards across the mobile stack, including performance, security, testing, and maintainability.
- Collaborate across teams to align on architecture, tooling, and technical strategy for Payward product onboarding experiences.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience leading large-scale mobile projects or owning critical mobile systems end-to-end.
- Deep expertise in JavaScript or TypeScript, with strong experience building applications using React Native.
- Strong understanding of mobile architecture, performance optimization, and scalable UI systems.
- Experience designing systems that support experimentation and data-driven product development.
- A product mindset focused on user impact and measurable outcomes.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across engineering, product, and design teams.
- Experience operating autonomously in a distributed, remote-first environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with native mobile development (iOS or Android).
- Experience building consumer fintech or crypto mobile applications.
- Familiarity with modern frontend tooling, testing frameworks, or real-time technologies such as WebSockets.
- Background in growth engineering, experimentation platforms, or user lifecycle optimization.
