This role involves technical leadership in shaping mobile onboarding experiences for Payward products. The engineer will drive architectural decisions, mentor teams, and build high-performance, maintainable mobile applications using React Native, with a focus on scalability, experimentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the technical vision for mobile onboarding projects across Payward products
- Develop and refine robust mobile applications with React Native, prioritizing performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability
- Work closely with Product, Design, and Data teams to uncover opportunities in user onboarding and convert insights into measurable engineering outcomes
- Create reusable mobile architectures, components, and systems that enable fast iteration and support A/B testing in onboarding flows
- Provide technical mentorship to engineers and influence architectural choices across mobile and product teams
- Uphold high engineering standards across the mobile technology stack, including performance, security, testing coverage, and code maintainability
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align on mobile architecture, tooling, and long-term technical strategy for onboarding
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading large mobile initiatives or owning critical mobile systems from start to finish
- Extensive knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript, with a strong background in React Native application development
- Solid grasp of mobile application architecture, performance tuning, and scalable UI design
- Experience building systems that support product experimentation and data-informed development
- Product-oriented mindset with focus on user impact and measurable results beyond code delivery
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills when working with engineering, product, and design partners
- Proven ability to work independently in a distributed, remote-first organization
Nice to Have
- Experience developing native iOS or Android applications
- Background in consumer-facing fintech or cryptocurrency mobile apps
- Familiarity with modern frontend development tools, testing libraries, or real-time communication protocols like WebSockets
