Responsibilities
- Own front end technical decisions and architecture across the Angular codebase, including state management and reactive UI patterns with RxJS.
- Provide technical leadership to the Ukraine-based front end team: set direction, resolve complex issues, and elevate craft while writing production code.
- Operate within an existing structure where product managers and backend teams drive most product and design direction, with front end owning execution and technical quality.
- Collaborate closely with product managers who work in Figma with design and backend engineering to transform direction into reliable, shipped front end systems.
- Advance the team's use of AI tooling by identifying slow areas and driving automation to improve speed.
- Bring technical leadership to infrastructure-level front end work, not just user-facing feature delivery.
- Consolidate the tech lead function currently split across two people into a single clear owner for front end technical decisions.
- Set architectural standards for how Angular applications handle state, data density, and reactive patterns across dispatch, school, vendor, and maps portals.
- Identify where AI tooling could meaningfully accelerate front end development and build the case and tooling to achieve that.
- Mentor and technically lead engineers on the Ukraine-based team, working within overlapping HQ hours rather than offshore shifts.
- Build trust with product managers and backend leads to keep front end execution fast and clean even as product direction comes from elsewhere.
Requirements
- Senior+ or Staff-level front end engineering experience with a proven record of technical leadership, not just individual contribution.
- Strong, hands-on experience with Angular; ability to step into the stack and contribute quickly.
- Experience with reactive UI patterns and RxJS or equivalent observables-based architecture.
- Comfort building and owning enterprise, data-dense web applications, not consumer products or analytics dashboards.
- Experience technically leading or mentoring other engineers, ideally across a distributed team.
- Genuine interest in AI-driven automation with real opinions on where a team could move faster.
Nice to Have
- Experience stepping into or consolidating a tech lead function previously shared across multiple people.
- Startup background.
- Experience with mobile web, not native mobile, not React Native.
- Domain experience in mobility, logistics, fleet, or other operationally complex enterprise software.
- Experience with mapping or GPS-adjacent UI relevant to the maps portal surface.
- Experience collaborating closely with design in Figma-based workflows.
