Stripe is hiring a Staff Engineer to lead the Data Engineering Solutions Team. In this role, you will solve high-impact data problems, drive the execution of key initiatives for the company, and oversee the full development lifecycle while maintaining high standards. You will contribute to Stripe's mission to increase the GDP of the internet and put the global economy within everyone's reach.

What You'll Do

Lead technical outcomes for a team of engineers, providing mentorship and support.
Partner with recruiting to attract and hire top talent.
Deliver scalable, reliable, and efficient data pipelines.
Develop subject matter expertise and manage SLAs for data pipelines and web applications.
Collaborate with product managers and peers to create canonical datasets and data warehouses.
Leverage AI/LLM and Agents at scale to analyze high-quality data for ambiguous problems.
Foster a collaborative, inclusive work environment that promotes innovation and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

10+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years building and operating data systems, pipelines, datasets, data warehouses, and infrastructure.
Strong engineering background and passion for data.
Prior experience writing and debugging data pipelines using a distributed data framework (Spark, Hadoop, Trino, etc.).
Inquisitive nature for diving into data inconsistencies to resolve quality issues.
Knowledge of a backend language (Scala, Java, or Go) and strong SQL experience.
Extreme customer focus and a commitment to partnering with Product Managers and engineers.
Effective cross-functional collaboration and clear communication skills.
Ability to thrive with high autonomy in an ambiguous environment.
Ability to foster and work in a healthy, inclusive, challenging, and supportive environment.

Nice to Have

Expertise in Iceberg, Kafka, Change Data Capture, Flink, Spark, Airflow, Hive Metastore, Pinot, Trino, AWS Cloud, or influencing open-source contributions.
Experience creating and maintaining Data Marts or Data Warehouses for business reporting.
Experience working with Product or Go-To-Market teams.
Genuine enjoyment of innovation and a deep interest in understanding how things work.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for various audiences.
