AlayaCare is looking for a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data & Intelligence division. Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering, you will design and implement scalable, complex data pipelines and infrastructure to power our data products. As a senior member of the team, you’ll collaborate closely with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to enhance the reliability and performance of our data systems, while influencing the enterprise-wide data architecture.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, cost-effective, and reliable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
- Translate business needs into technical requirements and ensure alignment with product and customer success teams.
- Architect and implement data storage solutions (data lakes, warehouses, real-time processing systems) and supporting cloud infrastructure.
- Optimize pipelines for performance, scalability, cost-efficiency, and automation.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all systems.
- Evaluate and adopt new tools, technologies, and processes.
- Partner with DevOps and engineering teams for seamless deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Document workflows and processes for knowledge sharing and maintainability.
- Stay current on industry trends in data engineering, ML, and cloud computing.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with data software development.
- Strong skills in DBT, SQL, Python, Snowflake, Iceberg, Spark, and AWS (ECS, S3, Aurora, RDS).
- Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, and Flink.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Expertise in dimensional data modeling and semantic layer design.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in Agile development methodologies.
- Mindset encouraging transparency, accountability, and trust.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AlayaCare’s stack (Python, PHP, Vue.JS, AWS).
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, or related fields.
- Experience in healthcare, home health, or medical devices is an asset.
- Familiarity with data governance concepts & tools is an asset.
- Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
