Responsibilities
- Lead the practical design and testing of LiDAR systems incorporating multiple laser emitters and sensing components.
- Create conceptual and final designs for mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, including tooling and fixtures, using SolidWorks 2016.
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analyses and define comprehensive geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
- Develop and manage project timelines while facilitating brainstorming sessions and formal design reviews.
- Collaborate as a core team member to evaluate and approve suppliers for mechanical and electro-mechanical parts, sub-assemblies, and specialized tooling.
- Produce and maintain detailed documentation for system requirements, design specifications, and assembly and validation processes.
- Ensure seamless and timely new product introduction (NPI) into both internal and partner manufacturing environments.
- Follow and enhance existing product development and qualification workflows to improve quality and efficiency.
Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced mechanical engineering principles and product design.
- Proven experience in designing and testing LiDAR systems with multiple laser emitters and sensors.
- Proficient in using SolidWorks 2016 to develop conceptual and final mechanical and electro-mechanical designs, including tooling and fixtures.
- Skilled in performing tolerance analysis and defining complete GD&T documentation.
- Able to create and manage project schedules and lead collaborative brainstorming and design review meetings.
- Capable of supporting supplier identification and qualification for mechanical and electro-mechanical components and tooling.
- Experienced in delivering and documenting technical requirements, design outputs, and validation procedures.
- Responsible for managing timely and efficient NPI transitions into manufacturing settings, both in-house and at external partners.
- Committed to following and improving product development and qualification processes.
