Responsibilities
- Develop and refine computer vision systems for image classification, facial liveness analysis, and detection of presentation attacks or spoofing attempts.
- Address real-world challenges in biometric authentication by enhancing model resilience against manipulated inputs such as deepfakes, replay attacks, and synthetic media.
- Conduct structured experiments to boost model precision, recall, and robustness using methods like data augmentation, class rebalancing, architectural adjustments, and hard-negative selection.
- Create, train, and optimize deep neural networks—including convolutional networks, Vision Transformers, and foundational models—with attention to loss functions, hyperparameters, and performance on extensive image collections.
- Manage end-to-end data workflows including ingestion, validation, cleaning, deduplication, labeling strategies, and quality assurance for large, imperfect datasets.
- Define evaluation frameworks and success criteria that balance fraud detection efficacy with false acceptance and rejection rates, while considering business outcomes.
- Build scalable, reproducible training and inference pipelines on AWS with monitoring, observability, and cost-efficiency controls.
- Deploy models as reliable Python-based services and libraries, collaborating with engineering teams to enhance API performance, latency, and system reliability.
- Advance the identity verification platform by updating outdated components and increasing model performance, modularity, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with Product, Customer Success, Fraud, and Platform Engineering teams to ensure solutions meet security, privacy, compliance, and operational standards.
- Guide fellow engineers through design and code reviews, promote best practices in experimentation, and facilitate knowledge transfer.
- Investigate new advancements in face liveness detection, presentation attack detection, deepfake identification, biometrics, and adversarial machine learning to improve anti-fraud systems.
