Responsibilities
- Oversee the health, performance, and alerting of network systems in live production environments
- Address and resolve Level 1 and Level 2 network incidents, including circuit failures, routing issues, and connectivity disruptions
- Conduct initial diagnosis, troubleshooting, and escalation of complex network problems
- Take part in a 24x7 on-call schedule and support scheduled maintenance windows
- Collaborate with NOC teams, service engineering, and external providers during network outages
- Implement standard network modifications such as provisioning, access control lists, and routing updates
- Support activation of new circuits, VPN setup, and onboarding of external operators
- Verify network changes and confirm successful implementation post-deployment
- Follow, update, and refine runbooks and operational workflows
- Utilize monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Zabbix, or equivalent platforms
- Detect patterns in recurring incidents and escalate for root cause investigation
- Help enhance alerting mechanisms, dashboards, and operational visibility
- Serve as the escalation point for NOC and Level 1 support teams
- Collaborate with senior engineers on advanced troubleshooting efforts
- Work alongside senior staff during root cause analysis processes
- Assist senior engineers in managing major network incidents
- Provide operational feedback to engineering and project teams
- Keep network documentation current and improve its accuracy
- Refine and maintain operational procedures
- Update and enhance incident response runbooks
- Contribute to post-incident reviews and ongoing process improvements
