Resilient Co was looking for a Sr. Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee backend services for the bill payment system to ensure consistent uptime and responsiveness.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve live production issues, even in high-pressure situations.
  • Collaborate with support teams to analyze and fix both new and recurring technical problems.
  • Develop automation solutions such as scripts, templates, and workflows to reduce manual effort.
  • Apply AI-powered tools in practical ways to speed up debugging, generate code, interpret logs, and draft documentation.
  • Turn experimental AI applications into stable, repeatable processes and documented procedures.
  • Produce and update clear runbooks, incident postmortems, and technical documentation for team-wide knowledge sharing.
  • Proactively inform stakeholders and support staff about issue status, potential risks, and obstacles.
  • Spot inefficient or time-consuming tasks and build lightweight tools or automations to streamline them.
  • Purposefully test AI technologies to overcome actual workflow bottlenecks, not just for novelty.
  • Review and verify all outputs from AI systems before applying them in production code, documentation, or incident resolution.

Responsibilities (11)

  • Maintain and operate Bill Pay backend services to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve production incidents autonomously and under pressure.
  • Partner with customer support to investigate and remediate recurring and new issues.
  • Design and implement automations (scripts, templates, workflows) to eliminate repetitive operational tasks.
  • Use AI tools pragmatically to accelerate debugging, generate code snippets, review logs, and produce documentation.
  • Convert AI experiments into repeatable, reliable workflows and runbooks.
  • Create and maintain clear runbooks, postmortems, and documentation so knowledge is shareable.
  • Communicate status, risks, and blockers proactively to stakeholders and support teams.
  • Identify repetitive or slow operational tasks and build small scripts, templates, automations, or AI-assisted workflows to reduce friction.
  • Experiment with AI tools intentionally to solve real bottlenecks, not simply because they are new or trending.
  • Validate AI-generated outputs before using them in production workflows, documentation, scripts, or incident analysis.
