As a Software Engineer on the Seller Growth Platform team, you'll play a key role in shaping the infrastructure that powers onboarding for thousands of new sellers each week. Your work will focus on creating reliable, intelligent systems that balance growth with trust, ensuring genuine sellers can thrive while preventing abuse and maintaining marketplace safety.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement backend systems that support identity verification, fraud detection, and automated risk assessment
- Develop scalable pipelines to enrich seller data and inform routing decisions based on risk and long-term value
- Build tools that enable dynamic onboarding paths, incentive targeting, and early acceleration of high-potential sellers
- Collaborate with Data Science and Trust teams to create reusable frameworks for reputation and risk scoring
- Own the development of modular, maintainable systems that reduce friction without compromising security
- Work across the stack to deliver features that directly impact seller retention, GMV, and buyer confidence
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of delivering scalable systems
- Proficiency in languages such as Python, Elixir, or JavaScript, and experience with SQL and data tools like dbt
- Comfort working across backend and frontend environments
- Strong product sense with a focus on user impact and real-world outcomes
- Ability to lead in ambiguous spaces, define technical direction, and drive projects to completion
- Experience with data pipelines, notifications, and growth infrastructure
- A bias for action, curiosity about user behavior, and commitment to platform integrity
Work Environment
This role operates in a hybrid model, with team members expected to live near Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, or Seattle. You’ll have flexibility to work remotely or from an office hub, with in-person collaboration prioritized for planning and problem-solving. All engineers are expected to actively use the platform as both buyers and sellers to stay close to the user experience.
