About the opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our team working on a well-established payments and subscription platform built primarily around the Microsoft technology stack.
Reporting into the Engineering Manager, you'll work across the full SDLC covering new feature development, operational support, automated testing, troubleshooting, platform modernisation and stability.
You’ll work in an environment that blends established systems with active modernisation efforts, giving you real influence over architecture, engineering practices, platform direction, and overall software quality. There are strong opportunities for technical growth, with hands-on involvement in solution design, modernisation initiatives, and evolving engineering standards.
Some of the other responsibilities include:
Develop, maintain, and enhance applications built using the Microsoft stack.
Work across a mixture of modern and legacy components within an established product environment.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects and production issues.
Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues and implement sustainable long-term improvements.
Identify opportunities for incremental modernisation and technical improvement.
Contribute to modernisation initiatives, including architectural improvements, service decomposition, platform scalability, and engineering process enhancements.
Support and maintain SQL Server databases, queries, and stored procedures.
Develop and maintain APIs and backend services using .NET / .NET Core and C#.
Contribute to frontend development using Angular.
Participate in code reviews and collaborative development practices.
Contribute to technical decision-making, engineering standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Design, clearly document, and review scalable technical solutions aligned to business and technical requirements.
Support CI/CD pipelines and cloud-hosted environments within AWS.
Contribute to testing activities, including automated testing and quality-focused development practices.
Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota supporting priority incidents where required.
Work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver reliable business solutions.
Contribute actively to team capability growth.
This role is fully remote across the UK, with occasional meet-ups at our Newcastle office. You must have full working rights.
