Responsibilities
- Engage with customers, product management, and hardware teams to conceive novel Layer1 features.
- Lead the architecture, design, and development lifecycle for new Layer1 capabilities.
- Implement and sustain features using C, C++, and Python; contribute to functional and design documentation and develop automated testing frameworks.
- Partner with hardware and manufacturing groups to deliver new physical components such as Phys and transceivers.
- Collaborate on defining efficient software control interfaces for Layer1 hardware components.
- Provide technical guidance across feature development, projects, and tooling initiatives.
- Support customer issue resolution by working with support engineers to diagnose, troubleshoot, and implement fixes in production networks.
- Collaborate with system test teams to investigate reported defects and deliver corrective solutions.
- Guide onboarding and development of junior engineers within the company's software environment.
Requirements
- Solid foundation in software engineering principles and practices
- Hands-on experience in software development for physical layer (Layer1) networking hardware
- Proficient in programming with C, C++, and Python
- Proven ability to lead projects from concept through deployment and customer engagement
- Demonstrated skill in debugging and optimizing code for performance and scalability
- Experience working across varied hardware platforms, forwarding chips, connectors, and interface components
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with optical technologies and physical layer communication standards
- Background in developing monitoring tools for physical link telemetry and health assessment
- Experience collaborating with optics teams on defining new media specifications
- Prior experience in integrating networking hardware and software systems
