The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Audience Data and Measurement (ADM) team within Ad Platforms. In this role, you will build and deliver new features for large-scale data applications, collaborating on architecture and code quality to create secure and performant systems. You will work within a dynamic, cross-functional team delivering end-to-end solutions that power the future of Disney’s media.
What You'll Do
- Build components for large-scale data platforms handling both real-time and batch processing.
- Develop next-generation cloud-based big data infrastructure for batch and streaming applications.
- Contribute to engineering practices including design patterns, CI/CD, code reviews, and automated testing.
- Participate in all software lifecycle stages: design, experimentation, implementation, and testing.
- Collaborate with your team to develop robust, fault-tolerant, and cloud-native software architectures.
- Apply AWS managed service solution design and implementation experience.
- Identify problems and develop effective solutions for high-performing data applications.
- Collaborate with fellow engineers to align the team’s technology radar and architecture principles.
- Deliver multiple projects using an Agile methodology.
- Take a high-ownership, hands-on position to drive quality and maintain application stability.
- Write complex programs, analyze code changes, and suggest improvements.
- Check in clean, valuable code daily that adds new features and capabilities.
- Investigate and resolve production issues from end-user to persistence layer and work to prevent them.
- Work with leads, product managers, and managers to ensure all project deliverables are on time and high quality.
- Work collaboratively with other service teams.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in big data application development within a large enterprise environment using Java, Scala, and Python.
- Familiarity with modern frameworks and platforms like Spark, Flink, Singlestore, Kafka, Nifi, and AWS big data technologies.
- Experience working with relational databases, SQL, NoSQL data stores, and event streaming platforms.
- Demonstrated ability with cloud infrastructure technologies, including Terraform, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, IAM, and ALB.
- A strong interest in open source technology.
- Knowledge of building highly available and scalable services.
- Passion for technology and openness to interdisciplinary work.
- Good communication skills and a desire to help others succeed as a team.
- Strong opinions about the “right” way to do things with technology.
Nice to Have
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Previous work experience in advertising industry-based applications.
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Presto, or Kinesis.
- Experience working with vendor teams to deliver high-quality results.
- Knowledge of performance testing and application profiling.
- Strong curiosity about how Disney delivers the Magic and a desire to be a part of it.

Benefits & Compensation
- Annual salary range: $117,500 to $157,500
