Disney is looking for a Software Engineer II to join the API Services team within Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology. In this role, you will build and maintain highly available, high-throughput services critical to delivering content to subscribers. You will work on a team focused on big data and backend engineering to deliver high-value projects on a cloud-based platform.
What You'll Do
- Be a part of a team of big data and backend engineers to deliver high value projects
- Build components of a large-scale data platform for real-time and batch processing, and own features of big data applications to fit evolving business needs
- Participate in building a next generation service platform on cloud-based big data infrastructure for batch and streaming data applications, and continuously improve performance, scalability and availability
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives as a team
- Build automated tests to ensure application reliability
- Participate in code reviews
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training or work experience
- 3 years of experience in a technical field
- Experience with Java, Scala, and associated technologies
- Experience building and maintaining highly automated systems that leverage tools such as Jenkins, CloudFormation, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Spinnaker
- Intermediate understanding of software development fundamentals and architecture
- Work diligently with team members and project management to understand requirements to provide technical solutions and direction
- Comfortable with ambiguity and being part of conversations where discordant views are present
Nice to Have
- Interest in or experience with web technologies and web system architecture
- Knowledge or experience with AWS products and services (EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, CloudFront, etc.) or other cloud providers
- Experience with Scala, Apache Flink, Spark, Databricks, and AWS (ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, Kinesis, CloudFront, WAF, among others)

- Compensation varies by location: New York, NY: $123,000 - $165,000 per year; Glendale, CA: $117,500 - $157,500 per year
