About the Role

Emerson is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Test & Measurement Business Unit. In this role, you will design and develop embedded and driver software products, collaborating with architects, product managers, and fellow engineers within an agile/scrum framework.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver product features through research, design, development, and documentation.
  • Collaborate on design discussions and code architecture with team members and project leaders.
  • Specify, design, and implement new product features.
  • Troubleshoot product defects and work with the team to resolve them.
  • Develop tests to ensure high code quality and prevent future regressions.
  • Peer review code changes submitted by other team members.
  • Participate in team activities including standups, backlog reviews, retrospectives, and brainstorming sessions.
  • Explore and apply new technologies to continually improve infrastructure and processes.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and C++.
  • Understanding of software design and computer architecture principles, including operating system components, embedded systems, kernel or low-level hardware/software integration, and data structures.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.
  • Experience with testing frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve effectively, take initiative, work independently, drive tasks to completion, and take ownership of goals and schedules.
  • Strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

Nice to Have

  • Ability to work productively in a team development environment.
  • Innovative, out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Experience programming in LabVIEW.
  • Familiarity with NI products.
