Responsibilities
- Guide technical strategy and spearhead development of core data platform systems enabling advanced company-wide capabilities
- Lead the design and maturation of data orchestration and streaming platforms from early stages to enterprise-wide production use
- Create scalable, dependable, multi-tenant data infrastructure instead of just pipeline development on existing platforms
- Take ownership of platform scalability, performance, reliability, service-level objectives, and operational integrity for data processing
- Develop robust systems supporting real-time analytics, event-based applications, and machine learning infrastructure needs
- Make strategic decisions on data system integration and collaborate across teams to implement unified architectures
- Work closely with engineering teams across product, platform, machine learning, and data functions to enable rapid, secure, and scalable development
- Influence company-wide technical direction in areas including orchestration, stream processing, real-time systems, analytics, and content understanding
- Apply DevOps and site reliability engineering practices such as CI/CD, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and incident management to maintain large-scale system reliability
- Help establish and uphold data governance and compliance standards across the data lake and dependent systems
