Work within the Orders Success Squad to support high-volume order processing, emphasizing development best practices, system architecture, stability, observability, and performance across globally distributed services.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of development, architectural, and operational best practices for core backend services
- Handle the processing of around 7 million food and grocery orders per day with high reliability
- Maintain system reliability through active participation in on-call rotations
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on backend engineering experience
- Strong background in distributed systems design and operation
- Proficient in Java and Kotlin, with experience using Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JUnit
- Deep understanding of service-oriented and microservices architectures
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize large-scale, high-performance systems
- Experience working with cloud platforms including GCP and AWS services such as RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, CloudWatch, EC2, SQS, SNS, Cognito, and Kinesis
- Skilled in DevOps tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Spinnaker, GitHub Actions, Drone, Travis, or CircleCI
- Demonstrated experience writing comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
- Willingness to join and contribute to the on-call firefighter roster
Nice to Have
- Experience in performance tuning, including caching strategies, SQL optimization, monitoring, and profiling
- Knowledge of monitoring and error reporting tools such as Grafana, Sentry, Datadog, or New Relic
- Interest in engaging with frontend technologies including ReactJS, Native Android, or Flutter
