Sopra Steria is looking for a Software Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of database and search engine solutions, including the conception and implementation of relational data models. You will develop backend services with Java and collaborate proactively with architects, developers, and the operations team.

What You'll Do

Design and develop solutions in the areas of databases and search engines.
Conceive and implement relational data models.
Develop backend services using Java.
Proactively collaborate with architects, developers, and the operations team.
Handle tasks related to OpenSearch architecture implementation, including cluster sizing, shard strategies, and performance tuning.
Design performant mappings and index strategies, and optimize indices, queries, and system configurations.
Integrate solutions into the broader product and application landscape.
Work flexibly across Germany in offices, on-site with customers, and from home as project needs dictate.

What We're Looking For

A completed degree in (Business) Informatics, Mathematics, or Business Administration.
Strong practical experience with OpenSearch (or Elasticsearch), particularly in data modeling, index design, query tuning, relevance optimization, operation, administration, and scaling.
Very good knowledge of Java (or another common programming language).
Several years of professional experience in software development, ideally in a backend environment.
Solid understanding of logical and physical data models.
Experience in performance tuning of distributed systems.
Proven experience with SQL and relational databases like PostgreSQL (or another relational database).
A structured, analytical work approach and enjoyment of taking responsibility in a small team.
Very good German language skills (at least C1) and English skills.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of container or cloud environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/OpenSearch Service).
