Responsibilities
- Develop platform-specific strategy for, refine/oversee the voice of, and implement a content calendar for Complex's main social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok) exhibiting excellent judgment and audience-sensitive framing
- Create, curate, and be responsible for all content published to the Complex Main Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram
- Serve as the social lead for all Commerce social initiatives, including close collaboration with the Sr. Social Editor, Complex Shop and Senior Editor, Main to develop a strategy and regular pipeline of social support for Commerce priorities. This includes, but is not limited to, developing a toolkit for the Content team to support Complex Shop and ensuring relevant social posts include Shop endcards and CTAs
- Oversee execution of Complex Main’s strategy around Commerce
- Work closely with editorial, video, and Shop, collaborating cross-functionally across all Complex’s internal departments, serving as key social lead for other verticals as needed
- Execute promotion of commerce/experiential initiatives. This includes but is not limited to: Complex NY/LA pop-up promotion and on-site coverage, Complex Shop rollouts, and partner event coverage (ie: Fanatics Fest)
- Lead community management, moderation, and DM management using a deep understanding of the Complex tone and voice
- Surface and pitch viral, breaking, and social-friendly content to our news team
- Own Complex Main-specific pegs and work with the design team to develop platform-specific assets for big moments, independently developing day-to-day reactive creative assets as necessary
- Develop strategy and content plan(s) for tentpoles including Fashion Week, the Met Gala, and more; Initiate, coordinate, and execute cross-functional collaboration with other vertical leads
- Ideate, source, and create original real-time content for all Complex audiences, in a timely manner, identifying memes, moments, and trends at the cusp of virality
- Participate in editorial and social brainstorms and cover meetings when needed
- Serve as the point person on all social goals (growth, traffic, views, and engagement), develop and deliver reporting at a regular cadence, and be accountable for providing vertical-specific tactics, strategic pivots, and added direction when needed
- Manage workflow of editorial social posts, working with the branded social team to coordinate posting and schedules
- Implement and utilize AI tools to improve efficiency and serve as a thought-partner
- Investigate, recommend, and integrate emerging platforms for social platform expansion
- Track and share social and platform best practices with internal teams, providing best-in-class examples where possible
- Work with Strategy and Sales teams to package and pitch social series and franchises
- Appear on-camera as needed for social video content
- Manage freelancers and interns, as needed
Requirements
- 3-5 years of social media and editorial experience with a publisher or brand
- A deep understanding of the Complex’s content, voice, and tone
- Positive, intuitive, proactive, and collaborative team player
- Strong writing and communication skills, proofreading experience, and quick decision-making skills
- Robust knowledge of streetwear/fashion and how it connects to areas such as pop culture + sports + music
- Possess a deep understanding and fluency of all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube Shorts)
- Extensive knowledge of Complex’s culture and proven track record in driving audience and consumer action on social
- Self-management skills + take charge attitude
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Premiere Pro
- Willingness to appear on camera in social media content
- Ability to travel up to 10 times a year
- Must be willing to work nights and occasional weekends/holidays for coverage of live events
