About the Role
As a QA Automation Engineer in Pro Engineering, you will integrate directly with development teams to design automated tests, validate user journeys, and uphold quality standards across web and mobile platforms through a mix of automation and hands-on testing.
Responsibilities
- Create, develop, and sustain automated UI test suites for both web and mobile applications.
- Perform exploratory and manual testing to verify new features, edge cases, and end-to-end customer workflows.
- Work closely with frontend and mobile developers during all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Analyze product specifications to detect potential quality risks at early stages of development.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot software defects in collaboration with engineering teams for timely resolution.
- Support the evolution of test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and quality engineering standards.
- Improve overall test coverage, release reliability, and product quality metrics.
- Utilize AI-powered coding tools like Cursor, Codex, Claude Code, and MCP integrations to enhance testing efficiency and engineering output.

The team
Established in 2011, Kraken ranks among the longest-operating cryptocurrency exchanges, serving over 10 million users worldwide. It provides spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services tailored for both retail and institutional clients. The Pro team manages core trading backend systems including the matching engine, market data gateways, internal and external APIs, and other critical trading components. The team operates globally with sub-teams working across different technology stacks, primarily using Rust in an agile environment. Recently, the team led key initiatives to scale trading infrastructure. In this role, you will collaborate with frontend and mobile engineers to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle and deliver seamless experiences on web and mobile.
