WatchGuard is hiring a Site Reliability Developer (python/java) / SRE

About the Role

As a member of the SRE team, you will own the reliability and security of production cloud environments alongside application development teams to deliver the best customer experience. You will ensure smooth production operations, define operational and security policies, guide teams in establishing service level agreements, and lead large-scale event response.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth production operations and lead large-scale incident response.
• Define operational and security policies, standards, and processes for development teams to follow.
• Guide development teams in establishing, monitoring, and achieving service level agreements through service level indicators and objectives.
• Work alongside application teams in production AWS, Azure, and hybrid cloud environments to ensure proper monitoring, security, reliability, automation, and support.
• Drive an operational excellence culture through simplification, automation, analysis, and evolution of activities and processes.
• Champion security and operational best practices to become recognized as a cloud expert by global development teams.
• Participate in on-call rotation to coordinate and lead production troubleshooting efforts for the best customer experience.
• Use programming skills to develop automation or assist with debugging and fixing complex production issues.
• Continuously learn new technologies and share knowledge through documentation, presentations, and guidance to other teams.

Requirements

• Customer-focused, data-driven developer with a passion for delivering the best customer experience.
• Enjoy coordinating and troubleshooting production issues and proactively finding and fixing issues.
• Understanding of cloud technologies, automation, everything-as-code, networking, microservice architectures, object-oriented design, SRE and DevOps cultures.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Go programming and a desire to learn others.
• Proven knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full software development lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, security, source control management, build processes, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, chaos engineering, and automated self-healing operations.
• Knowledge of tools and technologies like CloudFormation, Terraform, New Relic, Lambda, Serverless, Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, Spark, Flink, Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory, Jira, etc.
• Ability to lead production incident response and postmortems through strong analytical and problem-solving abilities as well as verbal and written communication skills.
