Canva is seeking an SEO Generalist contractor based in Mexico City, Mexico, for a 12-month period to support technical SEO across its international markets. In this role, you’ll work closely with SEO Country Leads and engineering teams to maintain technical health, scale global discoverability, and adapt to evolving search trends including AI-powered search.
What You'll Do
- Providing hands-on technical SEO support to SEO Country Leads across multiple international markets
- Identifying technical SEO issues, recommending fixes, and ensuring global pages remain technically healthy and scalable
- Monitoring and maintaining hreflang implementation, indexation, and crawlability across locales
- Catching duplication issues, incorrect locale targeting, and crawl inefficiencies before they compound
- Using tools like Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Botify, and Lumar to surface errors and opportunities
- Implementing technical SEO changes directly or in collaboration with engineering and platform teams
- Managing technical SEO work through Jira
- Keeping documentation clear so stakeholders know what's in flight, shipped, and upcoming
- Staying curious about how AI-powered search is evolving (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews)
- Bringing insights on AI and search evolution into technical discoverability strategies across markets
What We're Looking For
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in technical SEO
- Experience with technical SEO audits, crawl analysis, structured data, and JS rendering issues
- Proven ability to diagnose and fix complex technical SEO problems at scale
- Practical understanding of international SEO, including hreflang, locale targeting, and indexation governance
- Experience dealing with edge cases in programmatically generated page sets
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously without dropping tasks
- Strong self-management skills
- Proactive communication skills
- Ability to identify and flag blockers or solve them independently
- Skill in translating technical findings into plain language for non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to provide clear, actionable recommendations without relying on jargon
- Genuine curiosity about the future of search, including AI-powered search trends
- Active attention to GEO, AEO, and the impact of LLMs on discoverability
- Ability to bring independent observations and insights without waiting for direction
- Thriving in collaborative, cross-functional environments
