George F. Young, Inc. is hiring a Senior Utility Coordinator, Seller-Doer

Responsibilities

  • Direct utility coordination efforts throughout Florida and develop the company's utility practice as a seller-doer.
  • Manage utility coordination on FDOT, municipal, county, and transportation infrastructure projects from conflict identification through relocation, agreements, permits, and reimbursement.
  • Collaborate with Utility Agency Owners to resolve conflicts and oversee relocation schedules, agreements, and reimbursement processes.
  • Analyze roadway plans, utility agreements, work schedules, and contract documents to ensure compliance with FDOT, FHWA, and AASHTO standards.
  • Lead coordination, stakeholder, and progress meetings; mentor utility coordination staff; and perform quality assurance and quality control reviews on deliverables.
  • Develop and sustain strategic relationships with FDOT District personnel, municipalities, counties, utility providers, contractors, and teaming partners.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new opportunities in utility coordination, permitting, construction management, and transportation.
  • Lead proposals, interviews, technical presentations, scope development, and fee negotiations, and maintain an active opportunity pipeline.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and professional organizations, and support annual marketing and business-unit growth plans.
  • Develop scopes, schedules, budgets, and estimates; monitor performance, profitability, utilization, and client satisfaction; and oversee delivery, billings, accounts receivable, and contract administration.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of FDOT utility coordination experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing utility coordination efforts on FDOT transportation projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of FDOT, FHWA, and AASHTO standards, policies, procedures, and reimbursement practices.
  • Proven experience with utility agreements, utility work schedules, utility permitting, and utility relocation coordination.
  • Established relationships with FDOT District personnel, Utility Agency Owners, local governments, utility companies, and transportation industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated business development experience, including client relationship management, proposal development, and project pursuit activities.
  • Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Report.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • FDOT Utility Coordination Certification.
  • Experience as a Project Manager, Client Manager, Program Manager, or Principal-in-Charge on FDOT projects.
  • An existing book of business with a demonstrated track record of generating new revenue.
  • Experience with utility construction management, utility permitting, and utility observation services.
  • Active involvement in transportation, utility, engineering, or public works professional organizations.
  • Professional Engineer license or related industry certifications.
