What is TechOps?
A modern, streamlined alternative to traditional enterprise IT. The team handles responsibilities ranging from frontline support to strategic planning, emphasizing advisory roles over enforcement. Team members promote autonomy in technology use, support innovation, and maintain system efficiency. The team operates independently, managing diverse technologies with a cloud-first mindset that enables fast scaling and high-impact contributions. Comfort with ambiguity is essential, as daily challenges vary widely. The role avoids legacy infrastructure like on-premises Active Directory in favor of cloud-native solutions.
Examples of some TechOps projects include…
- Implementing and transitioning to a new identity provider.
- Migrating macOS and Windows devices to modern MDM solutions.
- Deploying a device trust and compliance posture system.
- Replacing vulnerable authentication methods like SMS with phishing-resistant alternatives.
- Supporting office buildouts with technology such as network systems, audiovisual equipment, and access control.
- Managing SaaS transitions during acquisitions, such as moving from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace.
Other
- Must be able to handle ambiguity and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrates a commitment to ethical and correct solutions over convenient ones.
- Advocates strongly for modern best practices and questions outdated conventions.
- Open to applicants who may not meet every requirement if they show enthusiasm and a strong desire to learn.
