Camunda is hiring a Senior Technical Writer

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to stay aligned with product direction and ensure documentation keeps pace with development.
  • Develop deep expertise in assigned technologies through hands-on use, enabling creation of practical, real-world documentation.
  • Lead documentation lifecycle from planning through release, including writing, review, and ongoing maintenance to support developer success.
  • Champion documentation as a core component of the user experience, representing user needs in product discussions and influencing design decisions.
  • Refine documentation continuously using analytics, user input, and personal insights to improve structure, clarity, and completeness.
  • Work with fellow technical writers and the documentation team to share best practices, advance team objectives, and improve tooling and standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of technical writing experience, including senior-level work, with a demonstrated portfolio of developer-oriented materials such as user guides, API references, tutorials, and technical articles.
  • Practical experience with Java, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and similar technologies, along with the ability to master complex technical systems—experience with Camunda 8 or comparable platforms is ideal.
  • Experience documenting AI-related topics, including familiarity with large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model context protocol (MCP), and emerging concepts like agentic orchestration.
  • Proven ability to adapt technical content for varied audiences, including software engineers, application developers, business analysts, and process stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Docs-as-Code workflows and tools such as Docusaurus, with comfort using Git and Markdown in developer environments.

  • Background in shifting documentation ownership from engineers to dedicated technical writers.
