NVIDIA is hiring a Senior Systems Software Engineer for its BaseOS team, the group responsible for the Linux distribution powering NVIDIA GPU platforms across AI, Data-Analytics, and Autonomous Vehicle industries. In this role, you will develop foundational operating system images and work directly with hardware to support groundbreaking technology.

What You'll Do

Develop Ubuntu and RHEL based OS image flavors across NVIDIA GPU platforms.
Sustain existing NVIDIA DGX and HGX systems.
Work closely with System/Software development teams to build common infrastructure for automation.
Work closely with Hardware and Firmware development teams to bring up new NVIDIA platforms, from power on to OS boot.

What We're Looking For

BS or Masters in computer science, or related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years of relevant professional experience.
Excellent C and Python programming skills.
Familiarity with at least one major Linux distro (Ubuntu, RedHat, SLES).
Knowledge of OS concepts such as filesystems, job scheduling, device drivers, and storage.
Experience with complex system-level debugging, from X/Wayland to systemd to analyzing crash dumps to install issues.
Excellent communication and planning skills.

Nice to Have

Experience creating your own Debian or RPM package and repository.
Knowledge of virtualization concepts such as device passthrough and SR-IOV.
Background in PCIe, USB, and similar low level protocols.
Experience with UEFI and BMC firmware.
Basic knowledge of tools deploying Containers or Kubernetes technologies.
Having written software in GitHub with exposure to opensource development life cycle.

Benefits & Compensation

Compensation: $148,000 USD - $235,750 USD for Level 3, and $184,000 USD - $287,500 USD for Level 4.
