Kimley-Horn is hiring a Senior Substation Physical Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Conduct conceptual and detailed electrical and physical design for high- and medium-voltage substations, including layouts, one-line and three-line diagrams, grounding systems, and AC/DC schematics.
  • Carry out engineering calculations and technical studies to support substation design and performance.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews on substation physical design deliverables.
  • Serve as technical lead on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare and evaluate bills of materials for substation construction and equipment needs.
  • Develop and assess scopes of work and proposals for smaller-scale substation projects.
  • Organize and lead client discussions related to physical design components as necessary.
  • Support junior engineers through mentorship, technical oversight, and identifying training requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication when working with internal teams and external clients.
  • Build leadership capabilities to prepare for expanded responsibilities within the team.
