Responsibilities
- Lead the development and ongoing improvement of foundational search infrastructure, including indexing pipelines, retrieval mechanisms, ranking logic, and query processing.
- Guide the planning and implementation of major search-related projects that span multiple teams and technical domains.
- Define and execute the technical direction for search relevance and ranking systems, optimizing for accuracy, coverage, speed, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with applied science and machine learning specialists to integrate advanced ranking models and semantic search capabilities into production systems.
- Guarantee search infrastructure meets high standards for response time, uptime, and capacity under live, high-volume traffic conditions.
- Serve as a technical leader by mentoring peers, conducting design and code reviews, and advancing engineering practices across teams.
- Shape product and platform strategy by clearly communicating engineering tradeoffs and long-term architectural considerations.
- Provide expert-level support for resolving critical technical issues and guiding architectural decisions in production environments.
