The Senior Staff Application Engineer drives adoption of High Performance Compute (HPC) SoC solutions in automotive applications including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), and software-defined vehicles. This role involves leading technical customer interactions, supporting product development, and enabling global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers through expert-level guidance and solution design.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical solutions expert for ADAS, IVI, connected gateways, and multi-domain fusion systems using HPC SoCs.
- Lead regional customer technical support while aligning with global teams to ensure seamless progression from design-in to high-volume manufacturing.
- Provide technical leadership during customer engagements, including responses to RFIs and RFQs and in-depth technical discussions.
- Analyze customer requirements and product goals, then map them to appropriate SoC-based solutions, identifying key technical challenges and resolutions.
- Develop customized solutions tailored to specific customer project demands.
- Lead technical discussions with stakeholders at all levels, including executives, project managers, and engineering teams.
- Organize and facilitate debugging sessions with global domain specialists to resolve complex technical issues.
- Create technical documentation, application notes, and training materials in collaboration with international teams across Japan, the U.S., Europe, China, and Asia.
- Collaborate with regional FAEs, providing training and technical guidance to strengthen R-CAR SoC support capabilities.
- Develop and present demonstrations and proof-of-concept implementations for R-CAR SoC platforms.
- Report regularly on customer project status to global application engineering leadership.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the company's SoC portfolio, with focus on technical specifications and capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in embedded system software development.
- Strong programming skills in C and C++.
- Extensive knowledge of embedded operating systems including Embedded Linux, QNX, Android, AutoSAR, or FreeRTOS.
- Proven experience in embedded debugging, including hardware-software integration and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of ADAS and IVI system architecture and design principles.
- Experience with BSP, middleware, IPC, and multi-core or heterogeneous architectures, with knowledge of security and functional safety.
- Background in integrating ADAS perception stacks and enabling neural network workloads on SoC NPUs.
