Medtronic is hiring a Senior Software Test Engineer

The Senior Software Test Engineer will lead test plan development and execution for software used in cardiac care systems. This role ensures software quality and regulatory compliance through rigorous verification processes for technologies that support real-time monitoring and management of implantable cardiac devices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and deployment of test plans and procedures across product development, integration, and production stages.
  • Collaborate on designing thorough test strategies and provide technical direction to team members.
  • Manage test execution, document findings, analyze outcomes, and coordinate defect resolution with cross-functional teams to maintain product quality and compliance.
  • Review, interpret, and understand product requirements, and contribute to requirements review activities.
  • Work with team members and product owners across departments to ensure products are designed with testability in mind, while optimizing for cost efficiency.
  • Design and run tests using automated tools and manual test development processes to verify software requirements.
  • Operate within a maturing Agile environment as part of a scrum team, consulting with scrum masters, product owners, and developers.
  • Support the scrum team in debugging and resolving issues identified during testing phases.
  • Collaborate with engineers across disciplines and locations to support test infrastructure setup and develop test tools, including stubs, simulators, and emulators.
  • Ensure traceability from software requirements through verification test design and implementation.
  • Take part in technical reviews of software requirements and peer verification test development.
  • Translate high-level requirements into complete test development work independently, following defined processes.

Requirements

  • Level 8 degree with at least 4 years of experience, or a Master's degree with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Angular, C#, .NET, ASP.NET, .NET Core, TypeScript, HTML, Browser Developer Tools, and CSS/SCSS.
  • Experience with Web API, WCF, and Microservices.
  • Familiarity with Kafka and Kubernetes Compute Platform.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with REST APIs; Swagger knowledge is a plus.
  • Proficiency with NUnit and mock frameworks for unit and component testing.
  • Experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency with Git and GitHub.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipeline concepts.
  • Strong grasp of software design, development, debugging, and testing practices.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience with SpecFlow, Cucumber, Gherkin, or Selenium.
  • Demonstrated quality focus, willingness to learn, adaptability, and versatility.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Azure DevOps (AzDo) and AzDo Pipelines using YAML.
  • Familiarity with API documentation tools like Swagger and OpenAPI.
  • Experience using static code analysis tools such as SonarQube.
  • Experience with security scanning tools including Contrast and JFrog X-Ray.
  • Experience with observability tools such as ELK stack and Dynatrace.
  • Background in software design for medical devices.
  • Proven ability to write engineering documentation such as specifications.
  • Experience with configuration management tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
  • Experience working with open-source development platforms and tools.
