Glia is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Team Lead)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Nexus team, shaping the systems and features that orchestrate interactions—specifically text-based connectors and data flow—across Glia
  • Manage a distributed, 6-person team of staff, senior, and entry-to-mid-level engineers operating across Tartu, Estonia, and Poland (EET/EEST)
  • Work alongside some of Glia's earliest engineers, the people who built these systems and still run them
  • Ship production code and learn the Interaction Core systems end-to-end
  • Understand the mechanics of the interaction engine and text-based connectors
  • Get to know the team, the codebase, and Glia’s project delivery methodologies
  • Translate ambiguous goals into prioritized work, unblock the team, set the technical direction, and drive long-term architectural decisions
  • Run 1:1s, manage performance, and coach project leads to sharpen their communication and decision-making
  • Establish workflows for AI-assisted coding, setting the review standards and guardrails so the team's output scales without compromising quality
  • Lead by example by staying close to the code and taking on high-leverage technical work

Requirements

  • Architecture & Technical Judgment: You own the design of complex components, make sound tradeoffs, and spot risk. When AI builds the code, system design becomes the scarce, highly valued skill
  • Trusted Delivery: You have a track record of shipping reliable outcomes, de-risking projects, and owning quality—including verifying and standing behind agent-generated code
  • Project Leadership Through Others: You have partnered with PMs to lead projects from idea to delivery, and you know how to grow that capability in your team's project leads rather than owning every initiative directly
  • Applied AI Fluency: A core requirement. You actively use tools like Claude to design, build, review, and ship. You can direct agents, verify their output, and understand exactly where they do and do not help
  • Drive & Learning Velocity: You run at problems, absorb new tools and practices quickly, and naturally mentor those around you
  • Leadership Instincts: You set direction, unblock people, and raise the bar without micromanaging

Nice to Have

  • Ideally, you bring prior tech lead, team lead, or mentorship experience, along with a background in performance management

Work Arrangement

Remote (Worldwide) — Tartu, Estonia, Poland

Team

  • - Delivery & Architecture: Translate ambiguous goals into prioritized work, unblock the team, set the technical direction, and drive long-term architectural decisions.
  • - People & Mentorship: Run 1:1s, manage performance, and coach project leads to sharpen their communication and decision-making.
  • - AI Leverage & Quality: Establish workflows for AI-assisted coding, setting the review standards and guardrails so the team's output scales without compromising quality.
  • - Hands-on Contribution: Lead by example by staying close to the code and taking on high-leverage technical work.

Our tech stack

  • - Coding languages: Elixir, Ruby, Javascript (React)
  • - Current Persistence Solutions: Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3
