Design and build secure, scalable RESTful APIs that handle financial data processing, with a focus on income and employment verification. Operate in a high-performance setting involving sensitive data, using Django, PostgreSQL, and up-to-date API security standards.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement RESTful APIs for verifying employment, income, and processing financial data
- Develop secure authentication mechanisms such as JWT, OAuth integrations, and API key systems for external access
- Produce and maintain API documentation using OpenAPI and Swagger to support developer integration
- Engineer scalable API endpoints capable of handling large-scale data processing for financial institutions and fintech platforms
- Build webhook systems and event-driven callback handlers to deliver real-time notifications to client applications
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience developing production REST APIs using Django REST Framework, particularly in environments handling financial or sensitive data
- Solid grasp of API security, including rate limiting, authentication middleware, and encryption of PII and financial information
- Proven experience optimizing PostgreSQL, managing Celery task queues, and using Redis for caching to ensure fast API responses
- Familiarity with API versioning, backward compatibility, and managing breaking changes across client integrations
- Knowledge of OpenAPI documentation standards and experience using automated testing frameworks for API validation
Nice to Have
- Experience working with financial data APIs, including employment verification, income verification, and bank account linking
- Background in developing Django middleware and custom authentication backends
- Understanding of compliance standards such as SOX and data privacy regulations in the context of API design
- Experience using monitoring and observability tools like New Relic or DataDog for tracking API performance
