Wise is looking for a Senior Software Engineer II to join the Recommend team. In this backend-focused role, you will build and scale the recommendation platform and reward mechanisms for customers globally, shaping the first experience for new customers.
What You'll Do
- Evolve and scale the recommendation platform and reward mechanisms for customers globally.
- Build systems, APIs, and product experiences for the recommendation journey.
- Own projects end-to-end to achieve team goals.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in Java, Kotlin, or another JVM-based language.
- Strong experience with the Spring framework, relational databases, and distributed/concurrent systems like Kafka.
- Experience with daily collaboration with product managers, data scientists, data analysts, and engineers.
- Experience writing testable code and with testing strategies like unit and integration testing.
- Belief in and follow best coding practices, code reviews, and providing open feedback.
- Great communication skills and ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- A strong product mindset and passion for customer experience, prioritizing work with customers in mind.
- Ability to work independently on customer problems, taking end-to-end ownership of projects.

- Compensation: 105K GBP - 130K GBP + equity in the form of RSUs.
