Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end technical integration of inverters, batteries, EV chargers, and heat pumps into the energy management platform, ensuring timely delivery.
- Enable smooth interoperability and communication between devices from different manufacturers.
- Design and implement communication protocols including Modbus TCP, OCPP, MQTT, and EEbus.
- Build, deploy, and maintain backend services on IoT gateways using the Go programming language.
- Troubleshoot network issues across LAN/WAN, firewalls, and VPNs to build robust edge computing solutions.
- Perform lab testing of the energy management system in Berlin to validate functionality and performance.
- Work with cross-functional teams to meet software performance, scalability, and reliability requirements.
- Deliver expert-level technical support to internal teams and external partners.
- Promote a culture of experimentation and innovation within the engineering team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in IoT development with a focus on integrating third-party OEM hardware.
- Practical experience building software modules for IoT devices.
- Strong preference for candidates with hands-on Go programming experience.
- Proficient in key communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, OCPP, and MQTT.
- Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WLAN networks, and experience with device discovery in residential networks.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Exceptional proactive communication skills with a track record of engaging stakeholders and driving collaboration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in complex technical environments.
- Proven ability to adapt quickly in fast-moving, interdisciplinary team settings.
- Agile, results-driven mindset with a strong team orientation.
- Fluent in spoken and written English at a professional level.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience working with energy management or smart home systems is beneficial.
- Knowledge of the German language is an advantage.
- Additional credit for hands-on experience in network administration, including routing, firewalls, DNS, and DHCP in production environments.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud, and their use in IoT applications.
- Experience supporting international clients or stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications in IoT or energy management technologies are a plus.
