Amplitude is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Data Management

Responsibilities

  • Deliver impactful features from concept to production, focusing on enhancing data accuracy, system dependability, and user satisfaction through well-defined project ownership.
  • Influence technical strategy by engaging in architecture discussions, suggesting solutions for intricate challenges, and shaping best practices that elevate team-wide engineering standards.
  • Maintain high operational standards by monitoring built systems, helping define service level objectives, managing incident response, and enhancing system resilience.
  • Design data ingestion and management systems with scalability and correctness in mind, optimizing for speed, accuracy, and fault tolerance using proven design patterns.
  • Develop core systems that ensure data trustworthiness, including frameworks for evaluating data health, APIs for access, anomaly detection, schema monitoring, safe deletion processes, and metadata handling, often in coordination with AI, data pipeline, and business teams.
  • Design and implement support for non-event data types such as entities, metrics, and dimensional models, enabling unified data governance across diverse data structures.
  • Help develop taxonomy automation using session replay data to detect missing instrumentation, recommend new tracking events, and enhance data completeness through intelligent analysis.
  • Lead fullstack implementation of features, spanning server-side services, data processing pipelines, and user-facing interfaces built with React and TypeScript.
  • Work closely with Product, Design, and engineering counterparts in Analytics, Experimentation, Ingestion, and Session Replay teams, while engaging customers and account teams to ensure solutions meet real-world needs.
  • Support team growth through active participation in code and design reviews, knowledge sharing, and personal and peer development initiatives.
